El Salvador
Guadalupe Scholarship ProjectEl Salvador is located in Central America bordering Guatemala to the West and Honduras to the North. As the smallest country in Central America, El Salvador has the third largest economy, owing to relatively recent economic reforms. Fifteen years after the end of a prolonged civil war, El Salvador's economy has shown signs of marked improvement. However, a substantial proportion of the population are not benefitting from these economic reforms, as the cost of living has escalated beyond the means of many.
FutureWatch's work in El Salvador is focussed on promoting education and providing financial assistance to primary and secondary students from low-income family situations.
Guadalupe Scholarship Project
In partnership with the Salvadorian Canadian Association (ASALCA), FutureWatch is involved in the Guadalupe Scholarship Project initiative, which provides scholarships to students in the Arcatao and Nueva Trinidad areas. Based on financial need, students from these areas have been selected to receive financial assistance towards the purchase of clothing and school supplies, as well as additional educational support.
