Madelyn Webb is a fresh water scientist specializing in the Great Lakes. She has participated in the bilateral agreements for the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreements between Canada and the United States. She developed the watershed management strategy for the Humber Watershed Task Force, bringing together her knowledge of technical and community-based development approaches to complex environmental issues.

Currently working as the Program Manager for the Learning Enrichment Foundation in Toronto, Eduardo has extensive working experience in Latin America. His tasks include providing management expertise to community and environmental reconstruction projects in Honduras and Paraguay. Also, he coordinates two CIDA an HRDC funded youth international internship projects in countries such as Paraguay, Cuba, Honduras, Ireland and Mexico. Eduardo has also been involved in CIDA sponsored environmental municipal planning projects to several Latin American countries including Peru and Mexico.

Martha is a secondary school teacher at Kipling Collegiate Institute, working with their coop program. She has her own business as a Certified Spanish to English translator. She has been an active board member assisting with translation and fundraising programs. She contributes to FutureWatch's international and local programs through volunteering her time, ideas and energy to ensure FW is a relevant and vibrant organization.

Ulises Ibargüen holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor in Economics. He has over 18 years of experience working in the public, non-for profit and private sectors. His wide-ranging career has provided him with experience in Institutional Development, Rural Development, Settlement Issues, Management of Microfinance Programs, and Marketing and Banking Operations. He has served in the Board of FutureWatch since 2002.

Inspired to join Future Watch by her interest in the environment and experience canoeing in Ontario, Janet has a career in child welfare. She lived in Tanzania for 2 years working for Street Kids International and has experience with a CIDA-funded project in other Africa countries. Janet has a passion for wilderness travel and brings to the board an interest in working with newcomers to further the goals of the organization.

Christiane has been an active board member with FutureWatch for four years since spending a summer as intern to Lidia Ferreira at FutureWatch. Christiane has since worked with the International Joint Commission on Great Lakes governance issues and has completed her MA in Political Science at the University of Toronto. Throughout this time, Christiane remained actively involved in consulting on FutureWatch’s programs and in representing FutureWatch at various community events.

The newest addition to the board, Sushil has been involved with FutureWatch since 2006 and is currently volunteering as a FutureWatch Green Ambassador in his building, 600 Rogers Road. He has both a degree from India’s Indore University and a Diploma in Travel and Tourism from Seneca College, Toronto. He has retired from an extensive career in business to pursue an active role in his community. He is a past president and founding member of Toronto Housing Association of Tenants and he is presently the Treasurer. Sushil is a member of the Board of Directors for York Community Services and for the past five years a member of the Board of Directors for the City Owned Social Housing Organization. In addition, he is involved with The Boy Scouts of Canada, Senior’s for Seniors Organization, and the Community Housing Unit Council for Community Housing.

Ben is currently working with the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) as the Regional Disaster Relief and Preparedness Coordinator for Eastern and Southern Africa, and is based in Kampala, Uganda. After completing an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of Toronto, he spent six months volunteering in tsunami rehabilitation in eastern Sri Lanka. He recently completed a six month CIDA-funded internship with FutureWatch EDEP, also in Sri Lanka, and is now acting as the international advisor to the board. While working in Africa, he is networking on behalf of FutureWatch in the interest of exploring partnership opportunities and opening new doors for the organization.

Farhia is the Program Director of the Somalia Women and Children Support Network. She has taken this Somali Women’s organization from a fledgling immigrant settlement service to a multi-service agency with its own community enterprise. Farhia provides valuable expertise in involving the Somali community in environmental projects, while FutureWatch is able to support the Somali women’s capacity development. Farhia provides inspiration and generosity of spirit to the FutureWatch board.
