FutureWatch EDEP is the Environmental Awareness
finalist of the Green Toronto Awards 2009
The Environmental Awareness Award rewards an
individual or group helping people to understand
the interconnectedness of the nature and
man-made worlds.

FutureWatch’s team with the Mayor of the City of Toronto,
David Miller during the award ceremony on April 23, 2009
at Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place, Toronto
In 2008, FutureWatch EDEP rolled out one if its environmental
awareness campaigns, this time to hundreds, of Hispanic
and Somali newcomers and low-income tenants in Toronto.
Newcomers are often excluded from environmental campaigns
because of language and cultural barriers.
Providing translated materials, the not-for-profit trained
a group of tenants to teach their own communities, stimulating
awareness and engaging individuals in local hands-on projects.
